Lennox Lewis insists he would have defeated Oleksandr Usyk in his prime.

Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lewis when he overcame Tyson Fury in May and the Ukrainian followed this up with victory over ‘The Gypsy King’ in their rematch in Riyadh earlier this month.

Lewis avenged the only two losses on his record and had standout victories over Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Vitali Klitschko during his glittering career.

And ‘The Lion’ has no doubts he would have found a way of figuring out the masterful Ukrainian.

“I would throw a good uppercut,” the 59-year-old told Fight Hub TV.

“Because he’s susceptible to a good uppercut and I throw a mean uppercut and that’s how I would definitely fight the fight.

Usyk was called out by Daniel Dubois for a rematch of their August 2023 battle which ‘The Cat’ won by ninth round stoppage.

A contentious low blow in the fifth round has formed the basis for Dubois’ argument for a rematch, with the Brit believing he should have been awarded victory by knockout, a reference he made when storming the 37-year-old’s post-fight interview after his win over Fury.

Lewis says he would have targeted Usyk’s body had they have fought.

“Well, anybody who is vulnerable to the body and everybody who is saying it, usually goes away and works on the body,” he added.

“Let them think I’m vulnerable to the body, that’s what I want them to think.

“Now my body is tough, and now if they go to the body I will hit them at the same time.”

A second meeting with the 27-year-old would give Usyk the opportunity to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, with ‘Dynamite’ occupying the IBF title which he relinquished.

“Usyk, I want my revenge,” Dubois said after Usyk’s win over Fury.

“Well done on tonight.

“I want my revenge for the robbery last time.”
