Lennox Lewis has called for Tyson Fury to face Anthony Joshua after suffering a second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk overcame Fury by unanimous decision to retain his WBA ‘super’, WBO and WBC heavyweight world titles, seven months after defeating ‘The Gypsy King’ by split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lewis achieved the feat in 1999.
Fury, who claimed that his rival was given a ‘gift’ by the judges, with all three scoring it 116-112, remained coy over what his next move would be, although many have suggested a long-awaited battle with Anthony Joshua should be his next move, a view ‘The Lion’ concurs with.
“He goes to London,” the 59-year-old told TNT Sports.
“For the biggest fight in history, maybe.
“Anthony Joshua.”
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn said a bout with the Watford man, who also has two losses to Oleksandr Usyk and is coming off a devastating fifth round stoppage to IBF heavyweight champion, Daniel Dubois is the “only” fight remaining for him.
“The reality is there’s only one fight for Tyson Fury,” the Matchroom boss told DAZN.
“And that’s Anthony Joshua.
“It’s the biggest fight probably in the history of British boxing.
“Everyone will always want to see it.
“But for me, AJ against Fury is the one.
“It’s the one at Wembley [Stadium] and then it’s back out here for Riyadh Season [for the rematch].”
Usyk welcomed a rematch with Dubois, after the 27-year-old stormed the ring during his post-fight interview demanding a second meeting.
The Londoner first defends his IBF title for a second time against Joseph Parker in Riyadh on February 22.
Usyk is set to have a WBC mandatory in the form of the winner of Zhilei Zhang vs Agit Kabayel, who also feature on February 22.
