Golovkin vs. Lemieux promises great action tonight. The fight has been bumped up to be for our vacant world middleweight championship. GGG will look to continue his knockout streak and his meteoric rise, while Lemieux looks to score a huge upset via his own sensational power. In fact, punch for punch, he may have even more power than Golovkin does, although GGG of course has the more complete skill set and more impressive resume.
The undercard also is set up to be an excellent one. Some fans are even more excited to check out Roman “El Chocolatito” Gonzalez in action, against Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria. Gonzalez is a top 3 pound for pound fighter, and he may wield even more power in his division than either Golovkin or Lemieux do at middleweight. He’s been one of the best kept secrets in the sport but has finally started to get some much deserved attention, including in the co-feature fight here.
So with both Golovkin and Gonzalez, you have two of the absolute best fighters in the world, two of the hardest hitters, both unbeaten, in their primes, against legit challengers. Not a bad evening of boxing on HBO pay-per-view and at Madison Square Garden.
Golovkin vs. Lemieux Fight Time
The HBO pay-per-view event is set to begin at 9pm. With a full slate of three undercard fights leading up to the main event, the Golovkin-Lemieux fight time could end up being at 11:30pm or 12am. However, with a fighter liker Gonzalez in the co-feature, that could be perhaps a quick affair, even against the likes of Viloria.
Either way, head on over to our live Golovkin vs. Lemieux results page, where we’ll be offering continuous, detailed updates of the action, the entire undercard and the whole event, for what should be a great night of boxing action.
