Mayweather vs. Berto is being billed as the final fight of Mayweather’s career. A win puts him at 49-0, which matches Rocky Marciano’s historic record. However, in all likelihood, this won’t be Mayweather’s last hurrah. There’s too much money to be made, and a chance to move to 50-0 is going to be incredibly hard to resist.
Either way, he has to get past Berto successfully first. He’s a huge favorite against the former titleholder, who falls outside of the top 10 of our rankings. That said, as perhaps the 12th best fighter in his division in the world, he’s not a pushover, and we’ve seen him battle back from hard moments in the ring. Further, his blend of power and speed is the formula which has caused Mayweather early fight trouble in the past, as in his fights with Shane Mosley and Zab Judah.
Before we get to the Mayweather vs. Berto results, the undercard features three fights. This includes Badou Jack vs. George Groves, in a super middleweight title fight, and a rematch between Roman Martinez and Orlando Salido, after the two engaged in a war earlier in the year. Opening up the telecast will be Jhonny Gonzalez vs. Jonathan Oquendo, with each of those last two bouts also offering installments of the never-ending Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry.
Mayweather vs. Berto Fight Time
The Mayweather vs. Berto Showtime pay-per-view begins at 8pm Eastern. That’s an hour earlier than usual, so you can expect the main event to get underway a bit before we’re used to seeing as well. There are three fights on the undercard leading up to the main event, so you can expect perhaps an 11pm or 11:30 start as the actual Mayweather vs. Berto fight time.
But there’s no reason to wait until then to begin following along with our all night updates and coverage. So pop on over to our blog to check out the coverage of the undercard leading up to the live Mawyeather vs. Berto results!
