Follow our Live Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri Results & Round by Round Blog:
Tonight in Macau, fight fans will finally get to see the unbeaten underdog, Chris Algieri, take on Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao in a welterweight showdown televised live on HBO pay-per-view. Here on ProBoxing-Fans.com, we’re showcasing live updates of the Pacquiao vs. Algieri results all evening long, with a continuously updated round by round blog for the main event as well as the entire undercard.
Chris Algieri earned his dance against Manny Pacquiao, and perhaps his date with destiny, by upsetting Ruslan Provodnikov earlier this year. In doing so he burst onto the scene and managed to snag this massive opportunity.
He’s a massive underdog here, but he’s certainly not lacking for confidence. He’s coming to win, and with his height and reach advantage, along with his speed and boxing, he could potentially pose some problems for Pacquiao.
For Pacquiao’s part, he’s been there and done that two dozen times before in bigger circumstances than this. He’s looking to win, but he’s also looking to impress. He hasn’t scored a knockout or looked like the dominant force he used to be in quite some time.
The undercard features Vasyl Lomachenko and Zou Shiming, neither of whom are in a particularly tough or intriguing fight. Although particularly with Lomachenko, he’s such an intriguing story and fantastic fighter that you don’t want to miss him any chance you get. The best undercard bout slated though will be the Jessie Vargas vs. Antonio DeMarco fight.
Vargas is young and unbeaten, but he’s certainly not invulnerable. While DeMarco has been beaten before and even outclassed, he’s a tough customer and he’s been in there with the better opposition overall. So that’s an interesting scrap on the undercard.
Pacquiao vs. Algieri Fight Time
Even though the fight is taking place in Macau, and therefore the fighters are competing at an odd time in terms of where they are, for fight fans in the states the action will be contested right along the usual schedule.
That means that the PPV begins at 9pm eastern. As usual, there are some undercard fights to get through. When all is said and done, you can likely expect the actual Pacquiao vs. Algieri fight time to be at about 11:30pm eastern, depending on how long those fights actually last.
So grab a seat, some snacks and some beers, or whatever else you need, and hang out with us tonight for our live Pacquiao vs. Algieri results!
