InterBox has released a statement today regarding Lucian Bute’s return to the ring. He’s now off the December 6th card, which was slated to be a double-feature, with Jean Pascal also in action.
Bute, 31-2, with 24 KOs, was apparently injured during training in the Philippines. He had been in camp with Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao’s now in Macau for his fight this weekend with Chris Algieri, but apparently Bute has not yet made it back home to Canada. Interbox said that they don’t have a full grasp of the situation from a distance, and that more details will be known once Bute is back in North America.
“Even though it’s a sad news for Lucian and his fans, the December 6th gala is important for Jean Pascal’s future and the world of boxing. With Pascal, the broadcasting of Lemieux’s fight at the Bell Centre and more announcements coming for the undercard, the boxing fan will have a quality night,” said Interbox’s Jean Bédard.
Stay tuned for further updates and we’ll let you know if we get any other details about Bute’s injury, or when his next fight will be pushed back to.
