Lucian Bute vs. Jean Pascal to be rescheduled for December 7 or January 25

InterBox and Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) have reserved the dates of Saturday, December 7 and Saturday, January 25 at the Montreal Bell Centre for the postponed Lucian Bute vs. Jean Pascal mega-fight.

The promoters reserved two dates in order to afford HBO options and they plan to discuss the two options with HBO executives in a few weeks before announcing the exact rescheduled date.

All tickets purchased will be accepted – All fight fans who already purchased tickets can hold on to them for the Dec. 7 or Jan. 25 rescheduled date.  Fans may also purchase tickets to this historic event by visiting www.evenko.ca.

While it’s good to see that they got started on finding rescheduled date opportunities right away, the downside is that these two dates are quite some time away, in December and then the end of January. Any hope for a speedy Bute recovery, and then a fight this summer or fall has gone out the window. So that’s a major blow right there, and kills the momentum that this fight has built up, at least for the time being.

For Pascal, who also elected to have this fight instead of facing Chad Dawson, he has to be feeling pretty down on his luck right now as he’s on the sidelines for all of this time due to no fault of his own.
