Luis Collazo is coming off of his impressive Jan. 30 knockout win over Victor Ortiz at Barclays Center and has recently signed with top adviser Al Haymon.
Now Collazo has his eyes set on some of the biggest fights in the sport and has not been shy about his desire to get in the ring with the best. One such name is former world champion Amir Khan.
Here’s what he had to say about facing Khan:
“I definitely proved that I should be considered part of the top tier of the welterweight division when I beat Victor Ortiz.
“Another name that has been a part of that conversation for a long time is Amir Khan and I know that a fight against him would be huge for both of us and huge for the fans. Khan wants a shot at Floyd Mayweather and so do I.
“It could be a sort of welterweight playoff that would get the boxing world talking. And mark my words, I will knock Khan out like I did against Ortiz.”
Collazo, now backed by Haymon and Golden Boy, could certainly find himself in another big-time fight. Khan needs an opponent as well right now, so it’ll be interesting to see who he ends up facing as well.
