Word came out several months ago that Manny Pacquiao would be adding to his ever-growing list of endorsements and deals by putting out a line of fresh vegetables for sale – Pacquiao Produce. Well, the time has come to make that official. The official introduction announcement and commercial for Pacquiao Produce has been released, and you can watch the video right here. Take a look.
Pacquiao Produce is billed as Pound for Pound the Best Produce on Earth, and also features the tagline – Feeding our Future Champions.
In the video, Pacquiao talks about the importance of fresh, healthy and nutritious foods, and in raising awareness about those issues and helping to make them available for the youth throughout the world.
Of course, this isn’t the first sports figure or entity that has tried to venture into the fresh produce aisles before. NASCAR has had its own brand of food and fresh produce products in the past. At least this seems like a more natural fit. Pacquiao is a highly conditioned athlete who needs to carefully monitor his own nutrition. He grew up extremely poor, and lacking in easily accessible, fresh and healthy produce. He’s always trying to give back to those who are still impoverished in his native Philippines, and he has already done some good work as a congressman over there, with aspirations to eventually be much better than that.
So even if it’s an endorsement, it’s not like NASCAR slapping its logo on a potato. It makes sense… kind of, besides the fact that he’s peddling Hennessy liquor out of one hand, and fresh produce to “feed our future champions” with the next. Oh well.
