Manny Pacquiao purchased a truckload of turkeys and pumpkin pies today. He and his team of Pinoy Pilgrims will be handing them out this Sunday to fans preparing for Thanksgiving. It’s just another way that Pacquiao gives back to the community and those who support him.
Pacquiao will begin the turkey and pumpkin pie giveaway at 1:00 p.m. PT, following Sunday services (which begin at 11:00 a.m. PT) at the Westside Shepherd of the Hills Church, located in the Wadsworth Theatre on the grounds of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) (11301 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif. 90073.)
Fans are asked to line up at a designated roped off area in front of the church, beginning at Noon PT. Each fan will be given a wristband that can be exchanged for one (1) turkey and one (1) pumpkin pie while turkeys and pies last. Ample parking for fans will be available.
“Thanksgiving is a wonderful American holiday for families to get together and celebrate God’s blessings. I chose Westside Shepherd of the Hills to do this because a house of God, where I attend services, seemed an appropriate place to share my blessings,” said Pacquiao. “I am very thankful for the many friends I have made here in this great country. “I can’t think of a better way to express my appreciation to my American-based fans, who have embraced me, than by sharing my good fortune with them.”
Pacquiao, who is in deep training for Act Four of his exciting and fistoric rivalry with Juan Manuel Márquez, will not have Thanksgiving off. Trainer Freddie Roach has planned on stuffing 10 rounds of sparring into the holiday before fighter and trainer join family and friends to celebrate.
The other piece of recent news from Pacquiao’s camp is that he’s scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel next week as well. So it’s a busy Thanksgiving for Pacman!
