Mares and Gonzalez both made weight without issue. Gonzalez looks pretty focused with the beard he has going, Mares was super confident. These guys are friends and former sparring partners from years ago, adding an interesting wrinkle to the bout.
Gonzalez was the titleholder before losing to Daniel Ponce de Leon, whom Abner Mares just fought and defeated. With Gonzalez’s power, he’s always in the fight, but Mares is on such a roll right now, he’s going to have a hard time slowing him down, to be certain.
Santa Cruz vs. Terrazas Weights
- Leo Santa Cruz: 121.75 lbs
- Victor Terrazas: 121 lbs
Both guys made weight without any issue. Santa Cruz is definitely taller and rangier, but Terrazas looks ready to go as well.
This fight is interesting for a few reasons. Of course, Santa Cruz is the bigger name, and a growing star attraction, but Terrazas is actually the titleholder. Santa Cruz can’t be in a good fight, and this is a high quality match to begin the televised card on Showtime.
