Rudy Markussen (37-2, 24 KOs) is convinced he has the power to beat Brian Magee (35-4, 24 KOs) at the first Nordic Fight Night in Copenhagen on Saturday night. The Hardhitter is looking to complete a spectacular comeback after a long break from boxing between 2006 and 2010.
“This is my last chance and I will make the most of it,” the 34-year-old said at today’s final press conference at Broendby Hall. “My comeback has gone very well thus far. I have a lot of confidence. I am ready and I am in great shape. I know I have the power to beat him on Saturday night.”
Magee said he was looking for another victory on Danish soil. “I have great memories of Denmark,” he stated. “I have won here many times as an amateur and also defeated Mads Larsen. I cannot afford any slip-ups. I am prepared to face Markussen. I am in top shape, the best ever, and I am here to defend my title.”
Promoter Nisse Sauerland expects a great night of boxing action. “The first Nordic Fight Night will be a special one,” he stated. “Magee versus Markussen will be very exciting. Rudy is in great shape and ready to become world champion!”
In the co-featured main event, rising star Patrick Nielsen (12-0, 6 KOs) takes on Jozsef “Shatter-Machine” Matolcsi (30-17, 20 KOs). Karsten Rower, who is coaching the Nielsen brothers in Germany, is pleased with the 20-year-old’s progress. “He keeps getting better and better,” Rower stated. “Patrick got a lot of talent and we will continue to lead him to the top. Saturday comes the next challenge. He is well prepared.”
Said Nielsen: “Let’s bring it on. I want the next victory.”
