Savannah Marshall’s WBO middleweight world title fight against Hannah Rankin has been postponed after Marshall’s trainer Peter Fury tested positive for COVID-19.
Marshall and Rankin were set to contest the vacant title left behind by three-weight world champion Claressa Shields on the undercard of Lewis Ritson’s clash with Miguel Vazquez in Peterborough on Saturday.
The show will go ahead, however after all other fighters and team members tested negative for coronavirus, whilst Marshall and Rankin will meet at a later date.
A statement from Matchroom Boxing read: “Unfortunately Savannah Marshall’s trainer Peter Fury has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Saturday’s WBO World Middleweight Title fight is off the card.
“All other fighters and teams tested negative.
Gutted for all 👎 best wishes @peterfury and we will get this rescheduled ASAP. https://t.co/l1XCzQssyq

Fury tweeted: “It’s very regrettable that it tested positive for COVID-19.
