After a gruelling sparring session with the British and Commonwealth champion, Daniel Dubois, Martin Bakole spent some time with proboxing-fans.com and the Congolese puncher had a message for his former foe Michael Hunter.
“I want a rematch, I don’t know why he’s talking s**t. We both signed with Eddie Hearn, he left I don’t know why.
“Stop talking s**t, come back to Matchroom. I wanted the rematch and he knew it. I will stop him, I will beat him.
“I want a rematch 100%!”
Bakole confirmed that his opponent Sergey Kuzmin has pulled out of their scheduled August 22 bout but Martin is confident that he will have a new opponent for that evening.
Headlining the show will be WBC Interim Champion, Dillian Whyte facing off against the wily veteran, Alexander Povetkin in what has all the ingredients of a fight of the year contender.
The show will be the first pay-per-view event since boxing returned after the global pandemic, which already has one big rematch on the bill when Katie Taylor faces off against Delfine Persoon once more.
Bakole admits he is keeping a keen eye on the main event, “It’s a good fight.
“It’s left hook against left hook [specialists] and the best must win.
“I hope I will fight the winner. I hope so.”
Martin Bakole feels he “deserves it” and Michael Hunter seems keen on the rematch after responding on Twitter, “Heard Kuzmin fell off? Eddie Hearn.”
