Martin Murray will take part in his first championship bout since facing Gennady Golovkin at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on September 5.
The St Helens star moved up to Super Middleweight in June and has stopped his two opponents at the weight following his brave World title challenge against pound-for-pound Middleweight star Golovkin in February, and will battle for his first strap at his new weight, with an opponent named soon.
Gavin McDonnell’s European Super Bantamweight title defense against Jeremy Parodi will take place in October with Gavin traveling to Texas with his brother Jamie as he faces Tomoki Kameda in a rematch for his WBA Bantamweight title.
“With Gavin traveling to Texas with his brother Jamie to defend his WBA crown on September 6, I wanted to add a major addition to the September 5 card,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “Martin has already boxed twice on Sky Sports in the last seven weeks but this time he will step up the opposition in a title fight as he gears up for a shot at a World title at Super Middleweight.”
Murray joins a packed bill in Leeds as hometown favorite Josh Warrington who’s facing Joel Brunker.
New Matchroom Boxing signing Callum Johnson tackles Southampton’s Tony Hill, unbeaten Birmingham Super Flyweight star Kal Yafai is in action and Andy Townend faces Lee Glover.
