Vanes Martirosyan’s highly anticipated return to the ring takes place on March 19th in Montreal, Quebec, on the under card to Lucian Bute versus Brian Magee on March 19th.
Bute always receives tremendous fan support in his adopted hometown of Montreal. Bute won’t be the only fighter with great fan support on March 19th. A large Armenian contingent is expected to be on hand at the Bell Centre to support Martirosyan.
“I have been getting a lot of emails and calls to my house with people telling me there coming to my fight. I have been getting a lot of messages via twitter and facebook as well. I think there’s going to be a good turn out for me,” said Martirosyan.
Martirosyan has been out of the ring for 9 months which is the longest layoff in his young career. He plans to make up for lost time with a busy 2011. Martirosyan will also appear in the ring on April 23rd when he faces Saul Roman for the WBC Silver Belt and the mandatory challenger position to the winner of Saul Alvarez-Mathew Hatton.
“I’m working hard, very hard in the gym. I was away from boxing for a long time and it made me very hungry. I feel bad for the guy I’m fighting because I’m going to be his worst nightmare. It is my time,” Martirosyan concluded.
