Martirosyan Ready to Fight Again in a Month After Win on Bute-Magee Undercard

Undefeated Vanes Martirosyan (29-0 18 KO’s) is focused on winning a world championship in 2011. He took the first step towards that goal by scoring a 2nd round knockout on Saturday night over Bladimir Hernandez (18-5, 16 KO’s). Despite his opponent coming in over 6 pounds over the originally contracted weight, Martirosyan had no trouble dispatching his opponent.

Less than a week after the knockout victory, the fighter of Armenian decent will be back in the gym on this week as he prepares for the Mexican Saul Roman (34-8, 29KOs) whom he faces on April 23d for the WBC Silver junior middleweight title. The bout will head line a Top Rank Live card that will be televised by Fox Sports.  It takes place at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, OK.

“2011 is my year. I am just taking a couple days off after winning on Saturday and I will be right back in the gym preparing for Roman,” said Martirosyan.

Martirosyan is looking to use the sliver belt to help springboard him to his ultimate goal of winning a world title.  After the Roman fight, Martirosyan hopes to land a world title shot this summer, “After the Roman fight, I hope to fight one of the top guys in my division. I just want to fight the best guys out there.  It was great working with Showtime and I can’t wait to be on their network again.”
