Remillard Makes Third 2010 Appearance at Mohegan Sun as Co-Feature to Paul Spadafora
Connecticut native son, undefeated NABF/NABO featherweight champion and Top-10 contender Matt “Sharp Shooter” Remillard, has signed on to fight on the all-action boxing card at the Mohegan Sun, Saturday, November 20, in a 10-round co-main event featherweight battle.
The card will be headlined by undefeated former IBF lightweight champion Paul “The Pittsburgh Kid” Spadafora, making his Mohegan Sun debut, in a 10-round junior welterweight rumble with Diego Jesus Ponce.
Promoted by Michael Acri Boxing Promotions, remaining tickets, priced at $75 (ringside), $45 (reserved) and $30 (general admission), can be purchased at the Mohegan Sun box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.
Remillard (22-0, 13 KOs), of Hartford, is looking to complete a 2010 Mohegan Sun knockout hat-trick. In January, he stopped Rafael Lora in the third round to successfully defend his NABF title. He followed that up with a fourth-round TKO of Carlos Rivera in May in another NABF title defense while also adding the vacant NABO featherweight title to his trophy case. World-rated No. 5 by the WBO and No. 6 by the WBC and the WBA, Remillard enters this fight having won six of his last bouts by stoppage. His opponent will be announced shortly.
Ponce (19-5-3, 3 KOs), of Palmira Mendoza, Argentina, will be making his U.S. debut when he faces Spadafora. The former WBC Mundo Hispano lightweight champion is 8-1-1 in his last 10 fights and has won all three of his fights in 2010.
The undercard will feature exciting prospects from the New England area, including: heavyweight Keith Bianchini (1-0), of Worcester, Mass., junior middleweight Dustin Reinhold (4-1, 2 KOs), of Fall River, Mass., super middleweight Mark DeLuca (7-0, 5 KOs), of Whitman, Mass., lightweight Joe Perez (4-0, 1 KO), and female welterweight Adelita Irzarry (8-4, 2 KOs), both who hail from Hartford. Youngstown-based world-class trainer Jack Loew will have lightweight Chris Hazimihalis (3-0, 3 KOs), of Campbell, OH., on the undercard too.
