Floyd Mayweather closed the book on his rivalry with John Gotti III, as he dominated their exhibition rematch in Mexico City.
DAZN televised Mayweather vs Gotti live.

The pair met last June, with Mayweather outclassing Gotti with his speed and timing, before the referee threw both men out due to constant trash-talking and fouls, which led to a full-scale brawl between both boxer’s camps.

47-year-old Mayweather retired in 2017, to take his place among the best to ever lace up gloves, but has since trawled the globe, taking part in various lucrative public appearances and exhibition contests. Gotti had mainly campaigned in MMA, with only two sanctioned boxing matches to his name before taking on Mayweather in 2023.

Draped in the colours of the Mexican national flag, Mayweather was well-received in the arena as he made his way to the ring, and after the national anthems and preliminaries, it was down to business.

Mayweather began the opener by working off a sharp jab and going to the body of Gotti, who was cautious early on. Round two saw the referee admonish Mayweather for a shot to the back of the head, and the corners started to get involved again, before the referee was changed mid-way during the round.

The bout resumed, and the third had Mayweather opening up on Gotti, landing multiple shots to the head and body of his opponent, and although Gotti came forward, Mayweather was able to evade anything that came his way. The pace slowed, and Mayweather still held control, landing with his jab and keeping defensively slick, and the pair clinched a lot as the fight went into the final two frames.

Mayweather let his hands go in round seven, landing with some vicious body shots, and Gotti was brave to stand up to them, and he covered up well in the final round under fire as the contest came to a close.

With no scoring judges, Mayweather took a moral victory, and the two shared a hug post-fight.

Undercard recap
Another exhibition took place on the undercard, and Victor Ortiz, a former Mayweather foe, and potential future exhibition opponent, was far from impressive in his non-scored bout against Rodrigo Damian Coria.

Alan Picasso Romero (29-0-1, 16 KOs) stepped up in class, and regained the WBC Silver super bantamweight title with a points win over former world title challenger, Azat Hovhannisyan (21-5, 17 KOs). It was a drab contest, but Romero prevailed via unanimous decision.
18-year-old hot prospect Curmel Moton (5-0, 4 KOs) impressed, and needed less than a minute to see off Victor Vazquez (5-3-1, 0 KOs) in their lightweight meeting.

In a super bantamweight ten rounder, Luis Rodriguez Ocana (15-1, 14 KOs) suffered his first loss as a professional, as he dropped a majority decision against Cesar Vaca (17-1-1, 11 KOs). Vaca took tallies of 98-92 and 97-94, against a drawn card of 95-95.

At super middleweight, Aaron Silva (15-1, 12 KOs) scored a third round stoppage win over Alfonso Flores (13-3, 9 KOs), and Cecilia Nino Rodriguez (13-1-1, 6 KOs) took care of late-notice replacement opponent Arlenn Sanchez Aguirre (5-7-4, 1 KO) in their light flyweight contest, taking an eight round points win by scores of 80-72, 79-74 and 78-74.

John Easter (7-0, 7 KOs) remained perfect, defeating Luis Morales Duran (5-2, 5 KOs) by stoppage at light heavyweight, and Trenton Joseph Brown (3-0, 1 KO) did the same in his super welterweight bout against Jose Antonio Munoz Guadarrama (2-3, 1 KO).

Dutch lightweight Jursly Vargas (3-0, 2 KOs) maintained his unbeaten record with a points win against Brian Eduardo Carrillo (3-2, 2 KOs) at lightweight, and Sekaye Terry (1-0, 0 KOs) made his debut, and took a four round points win over Carlos Rosas (1-2, 0 KOs) at super featherweight.
