Star Power Mayweather vs. Ortiz Weigh-in Results

Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz

  • Mayweather: 146.5 lbs
  • Ortiz: 147 lbs

Ortiz looked a bit star struck at times during the spectacle of the event. Someone from Mayweather’s team was talking trash to him and worked Ortiz’s camp up. Ortiz and Mayweather both look to be in excellent shape and ripped. It’s no surprise that Mayweather weighed less than the limit, as he never has trouble making weight. After they weighed-in, after a long pause, Mayweather got right into Ortiz’s face and the two yapped at one another. Let’s go!

Before Mayweather and Ortiz took the scales, the put on a promo video for Star Power. Crowd was pretty wild and raucous, and was spurred on by the comedian co-hosts (see below). This Mayweather-Ortiz weigh-in was definitely a big-time event. The entrances for both men were drawn out for a very long time, and they milked this event as long as they could. The whole thing lasted for about 45 minutes.

Saul Alvarez vs. Alfonso Gomez:

  • Canelo: 153.6 lbs
  • Gomez: 152.6 lbs

Both Canelo and Gomez look fit and trim, and ready to battle it out. Both were calm and collected during the weigh-in, and there were no altercations or dust ups.

Erik Morales vs. Pablo Cesar Cano:

  • Morales: 140 lbs
  • Cano: 140 lbs

This is is for the vacant WBC 140 lbs title of course, and bogus title as that may be, it’s still an interesting scrap and a chance to see the Mexican Legend Morales in action. Morales grabbed the mic and talked to the fans after he weighed in.

Jessie Vargas vs. Josesito Lopez

  • Vargas: 142 lbs
  • Lopez: 140.5 lbs

Things were a bit heated between Vargas and Lopez, with Vargas rushing the stage into Lopez’s face before the weigh-in. Should be a good prospect vs. prospect-killer bout.

Thousands of fans were in attendance and they were lining up hours in advance to catch a glimpse of the weigh-in in person. It was a wild crowd and both sides had their supporters, although it’s not hard to predict that on Mexican Independence Day weekend, that Ortiz will be the crowd favorite.

The two of them definitely kept the crowd laughing the whole time, and Hart kept on chanting for Money Mayweather. Hart also was picking a fight with the smallest guy on the stage as looking at all the fighters was getting him hyped up, and he needed to try to find someone he could beat up.

Michael Buffer was calling the action, but the co-hosts of the weigh-in (yes, there were co-hosts), were comedians Kevin Hart and Paul Rodriguez. Conveniently enough, Hart was with Team Money Mayweather, and Rodriguez was there supporting Ortiz.
