Over the weekend, a lot of noise in the boxing community was created when Floyd Mayweather posted an intense video diatribe about Manny Pacquiao. Of course, the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather negotiations have been stalled for some time, and the best fight in boxing has not gotten made. Still, now it seems that Mayweather is changing is quiet, more passive stance, and taking on an active role. He clearly wants the fight, and wants to hype it up and create some real juice in the media. He got started with a racist, somewhat inappropriate, string of comments in the following video.
Mayweather’s Rant on Pacquiao
With Pacquiao already lined up to face Margarito in November, a fight with Mayweather could happen at the earliest around March of next year, although lately Mayweather loves to fight in May, around the Cinco de Mayo holiday. Mayweather has had no problems being the bad guy in a promotion in the past, and he’s clearly keeping that up. How much is an act and how much is real Floyd, that’s always the question when we see Mayweather do something publicly like this.
However, what’s clear is that he has definitely riled up Pacquiao’s fan base, and his promotional and managerial team. Maybe this makes Pacquiao even more ready and willing to get into the ring with him. As far as Mayweather is concerned, it will probably bring even more buyers into the scene when the fight finally does come together.
