Conor McGregor has revealed he is keen to see Anthony Joshua get a second crack at IBF heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois.

McGregor was one of the 96,000 in attendance at Wembley Stadium to witness Dubois shockingly stop Joshua in five rounds to retain his title in September.

It was a crushing loss for pre-fight favourite ‘AJ’, and many prominent voices in the boxing world have called for him to hang up the gloves altogether.

‘The Notorious’, however, believes the Watford man has what it takes to reverse the result against Dubois.

Speaking to talkSPORT this week, McGregor explained why he would like to see Joshua “have another go” at toppling ‘Triple D.’

“I thought there was a little bit of tension in the Joshua side, even in the walk out – he looked too warmed up!

“I wasn’t so surprised, fair play to Dubois. I thought Joshua did some good things as well.

“He was getting back into it but made some errors, he got a bit too excited after putting the backhand on him.

“I’m excited to see that one go again and I’ll tell you why.

“Joshua has shown in the past that he can make corrections and make amends, like in the Ruiz fight.

“So I would like to see him have another go. Dubois fought phenomenally on the night and it would be a tough ask for Anthony.

“But if anyone can do it, it can be AJ.”

Despite the wishes of McGregor and anyone else who is craving to see an immediate rematch, it has been confirmed that it will not be taking place.

Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren told media on Monday that he had received word from Joshua’s team that their man will not be ready for February.

However, ‘Dynamite’ is still expected to make a defence of his world title next year, with the likes of Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang reportedly amongst the frontrunners to land a shot.
