It’s time to take three, as the third Mike Alvarado vs. Brandon Rios fight is officially set for January 24th. The trilogy will be complete as one of the most brutal and exciting rivalries we’ve seen in recent years will get its rubbermatch.
Rios won the first fight by stoppage, in 2012, and Alvarado took the second by decision, in 2013. Both were Fight of the Year candidates.
Since, Alvarado lost to both Ruslan Provodnikov and Juan Manuel Marquez, while Rios lost to Manny Pacquiao, and came back with a DQ win against Diego Chaves. No rest for the weary, as these two have signed on to go at it again. With a combined record of 66-5-1 with 45 knockouts to their credit, these two always come to fight, and the pairing of power, aggressive fighting and warrior’s mentality makes any fight between these two a guaranteed slug-fest.
An official announcement press conference for the fight will be held next week, on December 9th, with the fighters along with their trainers and the rest of their teams all on hand.
Alvarado, Rios and their trainers and managers will be available for one-on-one interviews before and after the press conference.
Alvarado vs. Rios III will be held at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, outside of Denver. The fight will be televised on HBO Boxing.
