New Blood back on Aug 22 in Corona, CA

Thompson Boxing Promotions returns to the Omega Products Outdoor Arena on Friday, Aug. 22, with a stacked “New Blood” card featuring hard-hitting junior welterweights Luis Solis (14-3-4, 12 KOs) of Progreso, Mex. and Miguel Angel Huerta (27-12-1, 18 KOs) of Mexico City, Mex. in the 8-round main event.

Tickets priced at $100, $60, & $40 are on sale now and can be purchased online at ThompsonBoxing.com or by phone at 714-935-0900.

Solis was matched in the main event against Jose Roman during Thompson Boxing’s 14th Year Anniversary event in May. Solis gave Roman all he could handle during eight hard fought rounds, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough to secure a win. That gritty performance, along with owning considerable knockout power in either mitt, awarded Solis another main event showcase.

“Don’t let Solis’ record fool you,” said Alex Camponovo, general manager and matchmaker for Thompson Boxing Promotions. “He’s had some bad draws that were more a product of questionable judging than skill level. His losses are against excellent competition that have a combined record of 41-2-3. This kid is a dangerous boxer that doesn’t get the credit he deserves.”

Also on the card is the wildly popular Sindy Amador (12-1, 1 KO) of Riverside, Calif. Amador, who is a current world champion at light flyweight, is going up against the veteran Anahi Torres (12-10, 2 KOs) of Texcoco, Mex. in the 8-round co-main event.

Free-swinging featherweight Juan Reyes (10-1-3, 1 KO) of Riverside is no stranger to the Omega Products Outdoor Arena, having put on an all-action brawl against Jonathan Arellano last August that ended in a highly competitive draw. Various media sitting ringside opined that the Reyes-Arellano scrap would have made a great main event for ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” telecast. On this show, Reyes meets Victor Capaceta (4-6-3, 2 KOs) of Tijuana in a 6-round fight.

Super bantamweight Isaac Zarate (7-1-1), who has a similar style to that of Reyes, fights out of the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles. He battles Guadalupe Barrera (5-2-1, 2 KOs) of Tijuana in a scheduled 6-rounder.

Undefeated lightweight prospect Cesar Villarraga (4-0, 2 KOs) of Los Angeles, by way of Colombia, hopes to continue his winning streak against Luis Cervantes (7-8-3, 2 KOs) of Cathedral City, Calif. The bout is scheduled for 6-rounds.

Undefeated junior welterweight Danny Ramirez (4-0, 2 KOs) of Bellflower, a suburb located in southern Los Angeles County, will fight an opponent to be named later (4-rounds).

Opening the “New Blood” event is a 4-rounder featuring undefeated Colombian Andres Fabian Figueroa (3-0, 3 KOs) against the winless Luis Silva (0-4) of Tijuana.
