It may be the dog days of August but there are no mutts on Thompson Boxing Promotions August 24th fight card with Artemio “King” Reyes leading the pack at Omega Products International arena in the city of Corona.
San Bernardino’s Artemio Reyes (16-2, 12 KOs) has that determined look in his eyes and knows he must defeat Corpus Christi’s John David Charles to move up the welterweight ladder toward contention for a world title bid. Knockouts are a Reyes specialty and the long armed bomber expects to impress in an eight round main event battle.
John David Charles (7-5, 1 KO) had a six-fight win streak to begin his professional career but moving up into the more skilled welterweights has proven to be difficult. Charles uses his boxing skills to win fights and will look to out box the heavy-handed Reyes.
In a six round war, undefeated female flyweight Sindy Amador (8-0, 1 KO) of Riverside fights veteran Elizabeth Cervantes (3-10, 1 KO) of Los Angeles who has battled many former and current world champions. Cervantes recently upset New York state’s Susanna Mallone last January. Hard punching Amador will unleash her effective windmill style punching technique and leave it all in the ring as she did in her last fight against San Diego’s Amaris Quintana. Amador’s busy style lasted throughout the entire fight and only amplified during the last two rounds which was enough proof to the judges in attendance who gave Amador the victory by unanimous decision.
Colombia’s highly ranked Daulis Prescott (24-1, 19 KOs) will face Saul Morales (11-1, 6 KOs) of New Mexico in a six round featherweight showdown. Prescott has power in both hands but faces equally skilled Morales. By night’s end one of these tough competitors will have shown their desire to win and will move on to becoming a contender.
Three other bouts are scheduled including a four round battle of young undefeated welterweights Victor Garcia (5-0, 3 KOs) and Carlos Villa (4-0, 2 KOs) – each fighter will look to blemish the other’s record. Only one fighter can walk away the winner – somebody’s “0” has got to go; a four round junior featherweight contest between Daniel Roman (3-1-1, 2 KOs) and Paul Romero (1-0) and a six round war featuring Riverside’s Juan Reyes (6-1-1, 1 KO) against an opponent that is to be determined is also part of the talent-filled boxing card.
Tickets for “NEW BLOOD” are priced at $75, $45, and $30. They are available now and may be purchased by calling 714-935-0900.
