This Saturday night, August 18th, at Ballys in Atlantic City, one of the most exciting prospects on the east coast, Glen “Jersey Boy” Tapia, will be on display when he takes on Hilario Lopez (12-11, 8 KO’s) of Parma, Idaho in Tapia’s first scheduled eight round Jr.Middleweight bout.
Tapia of Passaic, New Jersey has a record of 14-0 with eight knockouts will be extra motivated on August 18th as he became the proud father of a baby girl when Tapia and his girlfriend Carolyn welcomed Isabella Nouvel Tapia into the world on August 5th. Baby Isabella weighed in at 7lbs 4oz.
“I have always wanted to be the best,” said Tapia.
“I know now that I can’t slip up because I have my baby to feed. I am real excited to fight and I just want to get back home to my little princess.”
Tapia knows he has some tough business before that as Lopez has only been stopped one time in twenty-three fights.
“I have seen a couple tapes of him and he has fought guys with great power and he has lasted the distance so I know it will be a tough fight.”
On graduating to eight round bouts, Tapia is ready for the step up in class. “I have been ready for eight round fights for a while. I was just taking my time and I am ready to step it up,” said Tapia.
Lopez has been in the ring with several notable fighters such as Orlando Lora, Mike Alvarado, Julio Garcia, Craig McEwan, Aaron Martinez, Omar Henry and Abraham Han.
The card is promoted by John Lynch’s Pound for Pound Promotions.
In the main event, undefeated Joel Diaz Jr. (10-0, 9 KO’s) takes on Guillermo Sanchez (13-6-1, 5 KO’s) in a ten round Super Featherweight bout.
