Francis Ngannou has described Tyson Fury as a “playboy” and says Anthony Joshua is more serious than ‘The Gypsy King’.
Ngannou is gearing up for his second professional boxing bout against Joshua in Saudi Arabia on March 8, after pushing Fury to the brink in a controversial split decision loss in October.
The former UFC heavyweight champion filmed a face-off with ‘AJ’ to promote their 10-round showdown on DAZN and Joshua remained his usual relaxed self.
The 37-year-old was goaded by Fury in the build-up to their clash and the Cameroonian admits he sensed a more focused demeanor from the Watford man.
“Joshua never trash talks,” Ngannou told All Out Fighting.
“His personality is more serious unlike Tyson Fury, who is kind of like a playboy type of guy.
“But, I think when it comes to fighting, both know how to fight.
“That’s what I’m focused on.
“He might have been nervous, but that doesn’t mean anything.
“In fact being nervous means he’s taking things very serious and he’s going to do his best to show up that day with everything.”
Joshua, 34, secured three victories in 2023, retiring Otto Wallin in the fifth round in his most recent outing in December.
Ngannou shocked the world when he dropped Fury in the third round of their encounter, before succumbing to defeat on the cards, although many felt he’d done enough to come out victorious.
‘The Predator’ revealed earlier this week his intention to return to MMA by facing the winner of Saturday’s clash between Renan Ferreira and Ryan Bader.
Although, Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, who has been given the resources to bring major events to the region, announced at the Joshua-Ngannou press conference his intention to match the winner with the victor of the undisputed heavyweight title fight between Fury and Usyk, which is set to take place on May 18.
