Nonito Donaire and Guillermo Rigondeaux met each other face to face today at the final pre-fight press conference for Saturday night’s showdown between the top 2 super bantamweights in the world, the Filipino Flash, and the Jackal. Things were fairly tense at the press conference. Donaire and Rigondeaux met for a staredown, and it went on for several full minutes as neither man wanted to move, back away or break his look.
Also appearing were Felix Verdejo, the talented 19-year-old super prospect, and fighters on the undercard including Mikael Zewski, Seanie Monaghan and Glen Tapia, all of whom are undefeated, and will look to get the crowd some action during the undercard and build up. They’ll need to do that, too, since the main event isn’t slated to begin until after 11 pm Eastern.
