- Guillermo Rigondeaux: 121.5 lbs
Rigondeaux definitely looked to be the more muscular of the two. Donaire was solid, but not necessarily that ripped, and seemed perhaps a little bit drained from making weight and needing to hydrate before the fight. Donaire and Rigondeaux repeated their intense stare down from the press conference earlier in the week, with neither man breaking his gaze as they squared off for about a minute.
Donaire clowned a bit though, at one point ducking down a few inches so the two men were eye to eye. He’s definitely the longer and rangier fighter of the two. Each man looks focused and ready to go, they’re sick of the build-up at this point, and they’re ready to finally get in there.
Donaire said that fans can expect “excitement” and “intensity” from the fight. He can’t say yet whether or not it’s the most difficult fight of his career, but he says this is one of the most tactical and technical fights across all of boxing between him and Rigondeaux.
