Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire and Oscar Valdez, along with Jessie Magdaleno and Zou Shiming, will all be added to the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas pay-per-view undercard. A press conference will be held next week in LA to announce their bouts.
Donaire (37-3, 24 KOs), of a General Santos City, Philippines, a five-division world champion and the 2012 Fighter of the Year, will be defending his world title belt against No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger Magdaleno (23-0, 17 KOs), from Las Vegas, NV, who has won eight of his last 10 fights by knockout.
Valdez (21-0, 18 KOs), a two-time Mexican Olympian who hails from Nogales, Mexico, will be making his first title defense, against No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger Hiroshige Osawa (30-3-4, 19 KOs), from Osaka, Japan, and Zou (8-1, 2 KOs), a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time World Amateur Champion from from Guizhou, China, will battle Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym (39-1-2, 24 KOs), from Buriram, Thailand, in a rematch between the two Top-Three world-rated contenders in a 12-round flyweight fight. Kwanpichit is riding a two-year, 12-bout winning streak since his sole loss which was to Zou. All of his victories during his current winning streak have come by way of knockout.
The six gladiators have a combined record of 158-8-6 (104 KOs) — a winning percentage of 92% with nearly 2/3 of those victories coming by way of knockout.
Pacquiao vs. Vargas will take place Saturday, November 5, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The event will be produced and distributed live by Top Rank Pay-Per-View, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.
