Joe Gallagher has a proven track record of developing prospects into world champions and Callum Thompson is hoping to achieve the feat under his guidance.
Thompson (1-0) fights for the second time as a professional on Frank Warren’s inaugural prospects show, headlined by Louie Lynn against Amin Jahanzeb at the Copper Box Arena on Friday night, live on BT Sport and the BT Sport YouTube channel.
The 23-year-old southpaw is the latest Liverpool fighter to enter the 2015 Ring Magazine trainer of the year’s stable, after impressing during sparring with Scott Quigg.
Gallagher has taken the likes of Callum Smith and Liam Smith to world honours and the former Team GB standout believes he is in the best hands.
“Joe is a brilliant coach, his record speaks for itself,” Thompson told proboxing-fans.com.
“The fighters that he’s produced obviously from their debuts up to British, European, Commonwealth, world title [level].
“So I’m just hoping he can do the same for me.”
’The Tank’ first picked up a pair of gloves aged seven and began competing from 11-years-old, joining the England squad at 13.
During a stellar amateur career, the Kirby man secured five bronze medals for Team GB, two Three Nations gold medals and had 96 amateur fights.
The top prospect, who has began his career at lightweight, fights for the first time under the Queensberry banner after signing for the Hall of Fame promoter in July and says he has worked all of his life for these chances.

“I’ve been waiting my life to do something like this.
“I’m just soaking it all in at the minute, but it’s a brilliant opportunity for me.
“I’ve got to thank my manager, Frank and BT Sport for the opportunity. I’m raring to go now and I’m looking to put a show on.”

Thompson faces Dean Jones in his second fight and will look to build on his successful debut victory over Lee Connelly in August.
‘The Tank’ says fellow southpaw and former three-weight world champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko is a fighter he looks up to and is looking implement some of the Ukrainian’s attributes into his style.
“The likes of Lomachenko, he’s my inspiration.
“He’s someone I really look up to and really look closely to and study as much as I can.
“Obviously [I’m] a southpaw myself and he’s someone I think I’m always going to want to base my style on.
“He’s a unique fighter and he’s someone I would really like to base my style on.”
