Remember the infamous Oscar De La Hoya lingerie pictures from several years ago? A collection of photographs made the rounds purportedly showing De La Hoya wearing lingerie such as fishnet stockings and high heel pumps. Well, in the same Univision interview where De La Hoya admitted to cocaine use, thoughts of suicide, and cheating on his wife, De La Hoya also admitted, finally, that the pictures were real.
According to FightNews.com, De La Hoya had this to say in his interview:
“Let me tell you, yes, it was me,” admitted Oscar. “I’m tired of lying, lying to people, lying to myself.” He added that he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine when the photos were taken.
In the past, De La Hoya stuck to his story that the photos were all fakes, and just had been doctored by somebody. The story subsided, but it was always in the backs of people’s minds, particualrly those who were never fond of the Golden Boy to begin with.
Of course, once again, it has to be tied to the latest Victor Ortiz out of the ring news, his underwear modeling side gig. Ortiz has long been touted by De La Hoya as the next coming of the Golden Boy – at least until Saul Canelo Alvarez hit the scene – and the parallels only continue here. Although, Ortiz is being paid to wear men’s underwear… not getting photographed without his knowledge/consent in ladies garb.
It’s also interesting timing for De La Hoya and Ortiz, considering both were on Piers Morgan on CNN tonight.
