HBO Sports introduces an all-new special when Under the Lights: Pacquiao vs. Algieri debuts Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11:45 p.m. on HBO. The special will dig deep and put the upcoming HBO PPV showdown on Nov. 22 between world welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao and fast-rising challenger Chris Algieri under the spotlight.
Hosted by HBO Boxing commentator Max Kellerman, Under the Lights will feature two respected and opinionated experts: accomplished welterweight star Timothy Bradley Jr. and renowned trainer Virgil Hunter. Bradley has fought Pacquiao twice, earning a split-decision victory in 2012 and coming up short in the 2014 rematch. Both Hunter and Bradley are well known for their honest opinions and assessments.
Kellerman, Bradley and Hunter make for an interesting collection of characters. It’s a bit unclear what the exact form of the show will be. Will Kellerman be moderating a discussion showcasing the opinions of Bradley and Hunter? Will they be talking over video clips or highlights from the fighters in action?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but HBO Boxing is clearly looking for additional ways to promote the Pacquiao vs. Algieri fight beyond the normal route they take for a pay per view event.
