The two guys are right in the thick of training camp as their fourth fight approaches. Right here, you can find the complete recap to episode 2 of Pacquiao vs. Marquez 24 7.
At the start of the episode, we’re in the Philippines, and getting a narrative about poor workers putting ingredients into donuts and getting a much different outcome than they put in. And how, well, maybe they can do this and then achieve so much more, because just look at Manny Pacquiao and what he has done.
Now, Pacquiao and his wife are receiving a blessing from their priest. He says some quick Hallelujahs and then heads out to initiate his next term in congress. It shouldn’t be too difficult, as nobody is running against him.
So he’s happy but he also wants to continue getting things done and helping the people. Meanwhile, wife Jinkee, is running for a position of her own, vice-governor of the province. Neither of them may be well versed in politics, but they want to be helpful, and get away from the bogus aspect of things a bit, so that’s good.
In Mexico, Juan Manuel Marquez is in training camp and is hard in work doing strength training in the pre-dawn hours. We see him doing all sorts of exercises and he stresses the importance of getting back into shape and into the routine of raining hard and getting physically and mentally ready.
His sons are with him in the gym, and his older son is doing some light training of his own. For his younger son, he’s just kind of showing him around. But for papa, Juan Manuel, he’s doing a circuit training routine with medicine balls, situps, weights, ropes and more, building speed, agility and strength. Despite his advanced age in the sport, he feels younger and fresher and better than ever.
While he has thought about retirement before, he knows it’s now time now. He will know when he doesn’t have the urge to fight and train like he does now, and to push himself and have his body respond.
After the training session, he’s with the family at a birthday party for a family friend, and just is lounging and enjoying the festivities. He says his kids have Duracell batteries… they just keep going and going.
Back to the Philippines in General Santos City, and we’re at the market in the early morning. Manny is doing an early morning run at the track, with a huge and casual group along for the ride. Then it’s volleyball, then badminton against his wife, then two hours of pickup basketball. It’s a fitness routine but it’s lighthearted and it keeps him fresh.
Next up with Pacquiao vs. Marquez 24/7 episode 2, we take a look back at Pacquiao’s last fight against Timothy Bradley. Pacquiao says he thought it wasn’t even close, he thought it was a onesided fight. Freddie Roach says that Pacquiao looked good, better than his previous fight. But, Roach does say that Pacquiao didn’t press for the knockout, and was comfortable to try to take a decision.
Of course, the decision came, but it went for Bradley. Roach said he was shocked that it was so close… but that they won. Then the next scorecard came, and they couldn’t believe it. Pacquiao says he has been in boxing for 21 years, and that was his first time he experienced anything like that.
We don’t even know how crazy it was in the Philippines. His mom got on national television and was shouting for a rematch, with Pacquiao just telling her to come down. But Pacquiao says, what did he have to prove against Timothy Bradley? So he decided to move away from the Bradley rematch, and instead, take on Marquez and settle that series.
Back in Mexico, and we see Marquez on set for his role on ESPN Deportes Golpe A Golpe. He sees it as a piece to a great next career for him after his time in the ring.
His family is getting ready to move into a new, amazing looking home. Previously, his last home was burglarized. So now they moved on up to a more exclusive place with better security and more privacy. It’s a great thing for him to have what he has now. For so long, he toiled away in the sport without getting big purses, but it’s all paid off towards the end of his career.
Back in the Philippines here in episode 2 of Pacquiao vs. Marquez 24/7, and the Pacquiao family is celebrating the birthday of their daughter, Princess. They do some group Gangnam Style dancing, which isn’t a first for Pacquiao, and just have a good time.
It’s a change for them coming from the problems the Pacquiao family had before. It’s why Pacquiao is spending more time with his family here in the Philippines now and delayed the start of his training camp in Los Angeles.
And now, the episode begins its typical montage wrap-up. We here narration about changing priorities and family in their lives, and getting back to reawakening their desires and focusing on the upcoming fight. Things have changed quite a bit, but with these two in the ring, have things really changed that much?
