Pacquiao vs. Marquez Weights
- Manny Pacquiao: 143 lbs
- Juan Manuel Marquez: 142 lbs
Thousands of fans were in attendance at the MGM Grand (estimated 5,500, with more fans shut out because it was packed) to check out the Pacquiao-Marquez weigh-ins. It was a bustling, excitable atmosphere, and the crowd was certainly pro-Pacquiao, as should come as no surprise. But Marquez had his share of Mexican supporters there as well. The weigh-ins began at 5:30 pm Eastern, and the HBO televised portion for the main event began at 6 PM.
Michael Buffer announced all of the fighters and the weights, and Jalen Rose helped emcee the event and kept the crowd busy and having fun. Onto the good stuff… what do the Pacquiao-Marquez 3 weights mean?
Both fighters came in under the catchweight limit of 144 lbs. Pacquiao was a pound heavier than Marquez, but that’s negligible. Neither man felt the need to go as high as they could, and that was important for Marquez, because some feared he had bulked up too much.
Marquez does indeed look much stronger and more muscular than he ever has in the past. He looks pretty jacked, and even more muscular than Pacquiao when they stand side by side, which is interesting. The hope is that by putting on that muscle, but only going up to 142 lbs, that he can keep up his speed and timing and technical form while adding that additional strength and power.
Neither man had to cut weight at all or seemed drained, so each will be at full strength. So let’s see what Marquez’s new body can do for him tomorrow evening.

Undercard Weigh-in Results
- Timothy Bradley: 140 lbs
- Joel Casamayor: 141 lbs (1 pound over on first attempt)
Casamayor weighed in 1 lb overweight for his first attempt, and had to strip down to his skivvies for that. He has an hour to drop that last pound. And that has to be attributed to his age at this point. Michale Buffer tried to assure the crowd that it wasn’t too big a deal, and that he should be able to come back and make that weight in no time.
Meanwhile, few guys ever look as cut and jacked at the weigh-in like Bradley does. In the staredown, these two got face to face, and Casamayor blew him a few kisses.
They showed some footage of the Bradley-Casamayor press conference, and it got pretty heated, and hilarious. Casamayor kept on yelling at him to sit down and shut up, but Bradley just got louder and kept on talking trash about his plan to “blow him up” during the fight.
This is a showcase for Bradley, and the pressure is on him to look spectacular and make an impression, and maybe land a fight against Pacquiao in the process. While he’s expected to beat Casamayor, nobody ever looks good against him, so we’ll see how it all ends up playing out.
- Mike Alvarado: 140 lbs
- Breidis Prescott: 140 lbs
- Juan Carlos Burgos: 129 lbs
- Luis Cruz: 130 lbs
