Danish boxing brothers Patrick and Micki Nielsen opened the doors to their Copenhagen gym today to conduct a media workout ahead of their crunch fights on Saturday night at the Ballerup Super Arena.
Super middleweight star Patrick Nielsen (25-1, 12 KOs) will be making a first defence of the WBA International title he claimed with an eighth-round technical knockout victory over George Tahdooahnippah in March. Standing in his way is the fierce Ghanaian challenger Charles Adamu (23-6, 17 KOs), who will attempt to snatch the belt away from the 24 year-old champion.
‘’I’m in great shape and I’m looking forward to this fight,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’I’ve been working hard in the gym and I’m 100% ready. We’ve been working a lot on my speed and power, and I think that’s going to show in the ring. Adamu better be careful because I’m not holding anything back. I want the KO and I’m confident I’m going to get it!’’
Brother Micki Nielsen (17-0, 12 KOs) joins Patrick in action. The 22 year-old aims to send shockwaves through the division by scoring a knockout victory over the experienced cruiserweight contender Ismail Abdoul (56-34-2, 20 KOs), but the younger Nielsen will face a tough task as the Belgian veteran has only been stopped once in his 92 fight career.
‘’I have a lot of respect for Abdoul,’’ said the undefeated Dane. ‘’But on Saturday night, I want to make a statement. I don’t just want to beat him. I want to stop him. My form is good and I know exactly what I have to do. Now, I just need to put that plan into action.’’
