Patrick Nielsen (20-0, 9 KOs) will fight in front of his home fans next month. The MusikTeatret Albertslund, just outside Copenhagen, will host the Nordic Fight Night on November 16, with the unbeaten 22-year-old headlining against an opponent to be announced shortly.
“This is a big moment of my career,” Nielsen said.
“I really look forward to the homecoming. It means a lot to me. All my friends and my family will be ringside to support me. I want to show them something special, something to remember. The MusikTeatret is just five minutes from where I grew up. I can’t wait to fight in my backyard.”
Nielsen has won all 20 of his professional bouts. After his latest success, an impressive points victory over world-ranked Patrick “The Machine” Majewski, he is now rated with all the four major federations. “Things have been going very well,” the Albertslund fighter said.
“The hard training with my coach Joey Gamache is paying off. I fought well the last time out and I will be even better on November 16.”
Nielsen can count of the ferocious support of his fans, who have followed him all over the country, no matter whether it was Herning, Frederikshavn, Aarhus or Esbjerg. Tickets are expected to be selling fast. “The atmosphere will be amazing, my fans will take the roof off,” Nielsen said. “I hope it will be a sell-out.”
On top of Nielsen’s homecoming, the Nordic Fight Night will once again feature the very best of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish boxing.
“We will put together an exciting card,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “We’re thrilled to bring Patrick home and arrange a Nordic Fight Night at MusikTeatret. I know how much this means to him. Let’s hope he can close out 2013 with a big bang to cement his status as one of the rising middleweight stars.”
And Torben Holm Larsen, Director at MusikTeatret Albertslund, said: “We are delighted to host Patrick’s homecoming. He is a hero in Albertslund. We have all followed his path to the top – from his first fights on TV until the big Nordic Fight Night shows. We are proud to bring him back to Albertslund. The fans at MusikTeatret will give him great support, the atmosphere inside the arena is well-known. We look forward to working with Team Sauerland to organize this exciting evening, which will be the biggest sporting event in Albertslund ever and indeed one of the greatest culture events at MusikTeatret.”
