Mike Perry has revealed that he suffered a broken rib during his defeat to Jake Paul.
Paul dropped Perry three times on route to a sixth round stoppage victory in Tampa last Saturday.
Perry, a former MMA and active Bare Knuckle fighter, admits he felt the power of the YouTuber-turned-boxer as soon as the first round, as the pair reunited on Paul’s podcast ‘BS w/ Jake Paul’.
“In the first 10 seconds,” Perry said.
“The first punch you hit me with you popped me.
“I knew people were gonna be like, ‘put your hands up.’
“So I come out, I’ve got my hands up and my rib was wide open and you hit me in the rib.
“I was like ‘f*** that’s it, I’m putting my hands down’ and you popped it right away.
“I fought through it.
“There’s pieces that I can take that I can be proud of.”
Paul called out UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira post-fight as well as former undisputed heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, who he is set to face on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, live on Netflix.
The 27-year-old’s victory over Perry was his fifth over an MMA fighter, after beating Ben Askren, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley [twice] and Nate Diaz previously.
‘The Problem Child’ took his record to 10 professional wins with a sole defeat to Tommy Fury and insists he would be open to a rematch with Perry in MMA.
Paul has been vocal over his distain for the premier MMA organisation, UFC and in particular the president, Dana White, but believes the Professional Fighters League [PFL] would be keen to stage a bout between them.
“I’m down, I’m sure the PFL would be down.
“I think it would be f***ing crazy.
“I need an opponent, because I want to do an MMA fight, but it has to be the right opponent and I think you and Nate Diaz fall into that category.”
