The main event of the evening on Saturday’s HBO Boxing card will be a 12-round middleweight slugfest between David Lemieux and Curtis Stevens. The fighters stepped on the scales today, find the Lemieux vs. Stevens weigh-in results here.
Saturday’s HBO Boxing After Dark® doubleheader telecast begins at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. Opening up the telecast from the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY is a 10-round junior lightweight attraction between Yuriorkis Gamboa and Rene Alvarado.
Official Weights from Verona:
- Yuriorkis Gamboa:131 lbs.
- Rene Alvarado: 130.25 lbs.
- David Lemieux: 159 lbs.
- Curtis Stevens: 158.25 lbs.
Both fighters should be interesting. In the opener, we just get a chance to look at Gamboa again, who’s been out of action and out of the spotlight for so long. We’ll see what kind of form he’s in at this stage.
The main event is a match between two of the hardest hitters at middleweight. Lemieux is the better all-around fighter, and punch for punch, probably the harder hitter too. But he has a bit of a question mark in terms of his chin and durability, so Stevens is very much a live underdog who will be looking to make his presence felt.
