Two-time Mexican Olympian and undefeated featherweight knockout artist Oscar Valdez (13-0, 11 KOs), of Nogales, Mexico, undefeated No. 2-world-rated super middleweight contender Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (29-0, 23 KOs) of Mazatlan, Mexico and Argentina’s Luis Carlos “El Potro” Abregu (36-1, 29 KOs), held a joint workout on Thursday for their upcoming all-action feature fights.
Ramirez and Valdez share a doubleheader card, Saturday, November 15 at the Alamodome in San Antonio,Texas on HBO Latino. Ramirez takes on Fulgencio Zuniga while Valdez battles Alberto Garza.
In Atlantic City, Saturday, November 8, Abregu faces Brooklyn’s Sadam Ali at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ on HBO World Championship Boxing, as the featured bout in addition to that night’s Bernard Hopkins vs. Sergey Kovalev fight.
That is a huge clash for both men. Ali has never fought really anybody in the upper echelon of that division. Abregu is a hard-charging guy, but he lost his biggest fight. Still, he’s not going to be an easy out for anybody, particularly with that power.
