Boswell: “The American Dream will soundly defeat the Russian Pretender”
Cedric Boswell (35-1, 26 KOs) has promised to put American heavyweight boxing back on the map when he challenges WBA Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15 KOs) on Saturday night. The duo will collide in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,000 fans at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland.
“This fight is huge for America,“ said Boswell. “I’m the one legitimate American boxer who can bring heavyweight boxing glory back to America. I’ve already paid for extra baggage to bring the belt home. My message to all boxing fans: The cold war begins December 3, 2011 in Helsinki. The American Dream will soundly defeat the Russian pretender!“
Today both fighters participated in a media work-out at the P3 boxing gym. Povetkin refused to get into a war of words with his opponent. “I will give my answer in the ring,” he said. “We’ve had a great preparation. Teddy Atlas has come up with a great strategy. I respect Boswell as a fighter, but he will not defeat me. I look forward to making the first of many successful title defences on Saturday.”
In the co-featured main event, Finnish heavyweight star Robert Helenius (16-0, 11 KOs), the WBA / WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, faces Dereck Chisora (15-1, 9 KOs) for the vacant European Heavyweight Title.
