On Saturday, September 1st, HBO Boxing After Dark will be presenting a double header. First up is Sergiy Dzinziruk returning to action after a long absence from the spotlight, and he meets up and coming undefeated Puerto Rican prospect Jonathan Gonzalez. In the main event, Gennady Golovkin meets challenger Grzegorz Proksa in an intriguing middleweight clash. Watch a preview video for this intriguing event right here.
Most of these names won’t be familiar to casual boxing fans, but the two fights should deliver some intrigue and excitement. Dzinziruk is classy and seasoned, but he’s been on the sidelines, and Gonzalez is an untested but talented kid. Golovkin is an underrated middleweight fighter, and Proksa is a decent challenger himself, and it’s an opportunity for Golovkin to try to work himself into the big fight mix at 160 lbs.
