It’s the Monday after a big fight weekend, which means it’s time to hit up the divisional rankings for some updates! Fight fans got to see Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto and Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Shane Mosley this past weekend, and each of those bouts has major implications for the fighters and the top 10 in and around their divisions. So we’ve updated our 147 pound and 154 pound rankings, and we’ve also gone back to the drawing board for some other major, recent fights: Chad Dawson vs. Bernard Hopkins II, and Paulie Malignaggi vs. Vyacheslav Senchenko. At welterweight, we have Paulie Malignaggi capturing a world title, and what’s likely the final swan song of Shane Mosley, while at 175 lbs, Chad Dawson has recaptured his old crown, and Bernard Hopkins gets moved down a notch.
At lightweight, Richard Abril was robbed against Brandon Rios, and Rios is set to officially, finally move up to 140 lbs. Other questions to consider with our rankings updates include how highly Canelo Alvarez moves up with his strong effort against Sugar Shane, and whether or not to include Mayweather amongst the junior middleweights.
