Nonito Donaire made quick work, as expected, of outmatched mandatory challenger Zsolt Bedak, fighting in the Philippines on Saturday at the Cebu City Sports Complex. Donaire scored the stoppage at the tail end of Round 3, after scoring three knockdowns.
The TKO win in front of the screaming throngs rooting on Donaire in his homecoming bout, give the Filipino Flash some renewed momentum. In fact, he made a statement saying he’d like to take on the best in and around his division now, including Guillermo Rigondeaux, Carl Frampton and Hugo Ruiz.
A fight with Rigondeaux would be a rematch of the one-sided loss which sent Donaire’s career a bit off the rails after so much previous success. He still has a big name and plenty of drawing power, both of which never came to fruition for Rigondeaux, so we’ll see if a rematch ends up being put together at this stage.
Plus, also here for you at the top of this page is a Nonito Donaire highlights video from Top Rank. Check it out to see some of the Filipino Flash’s finest moments in the ring. Of course, the video was made before this latest performance from Donaire, and will likely need to be updated now.
