On Wednesday, November 26, boxer Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero and other volunteers from the community will distribute food to less fortunate families in Robert’s hometown of Gilroy, Calif. His partnership and $5,000 commitment to the Salvation Army of Gilroy, will provide more than 300 people with a warm meal this Thanksgiving and help other Salvation Army initiatives through the holidays.
At 8 a.m., local volunteers will begin preparing the meals to be served to families in need by noon. Robert will be on-site at 11 a.m. to help prepare and serve a wide assortment of festive Thanksgiving fare including turkeys, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, bread and homemade pumpkin pie.
Robert sees this as a way to give back to the community that has supported him and his family since they were children.
“It brings me great pleasure to be participating with the Salvation Army for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. The Gilroy community is dear to my heart and anytime I can help support those less fortunate is a blessing. Helping others is what the holiday season is all about. I’m looking forward to an uplifting day filled with joy and happiness as we will provide many meals for those in need.”
