On top of the latest Top Rank promoted card at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robson Conceicao dominated his WBC super featherweight title eliminator with Xavier Martinez, taking a lopsided ten round points win.
2016 Olympic Gold medallist Conceicao gave a good account of himself in defeat to WBC champion Oscar Valdez in his last fight in September, going down eventually on the cards. Martinez came into this one as the number 14 ranked contender with the WBC, and he was unbeaten in 17, outscoring Juan Carlos Burgos last time out in May 2021.
It was a busy start for the Brazilian, who controlled the opener with a range of punches, and he largely dominated the action with his boxing skills, not allowing Martinez to settle into any kind of rhythm. Martinez had his best moment of the contest at the end of the third, as a cuffing left hand wobbled the legs of Conceicao, but he was unable to capitalise on that success. Conceicao wrested back control, putting together his punches impressively, and Martinez was powerless to stop the South American banking round after round.

Although the action was competitive, Conceicao kept one step ahead as Martinez just couldn’t get past the jab of his opponent, and he was also struggling with the speed of the 33-year-old. The pattern continued to the final bell, and scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92 confirmed victory for Conceicao, who moves closer to a second world title shot.
Promising heavyweight Stephan Shaw moved to 16-0, as he halted Joey Dawejko in the final frame of their eight rounder. Dawejko was under heavy fire throughout, and his corner had seen enough, pulling their fighter out of battle.
Chief support came at super lightweight, where Freddie Roach trained Giovanni Cabrera took an eight round decision win against Rene Tellez Giron. Two scores of 78-74 and a third at 77-75 ensured Cabrera remained undefeated.
Nico Ali Walsh continued his education as he scored a second round win over Jeremiah Yeager. Ali Walsh decked Yeager with a hard left hand, and the referee somehow allowed Yeager to continue, and he was stopped on the ropes, badly buzzed by another left. Another man early in his pro journey is Tiger Johnson, and the 2020 USA Olympian took a four round decision against Xavier Madrid by three scores of 40-36.

The colourful Pink Tyson was upset in her super featherweight eight rounder, as Carla Torres took a majority decision win. A drawn scorecard of 76-76 was overruled by a way too wide card of 80-72 and a third at 77-75 in what was an all action affair.

Haven Brady Jr took all six rounds of his super featherweight clash with Diuhl Olguin, and Bruce Carrington scored a second round knockout at featherweight against Steven Brown.
Two first round knockouts came at heavyweight and light heavyweight, as Jeremiah Milton halted Dell Long, and Dante Benjamin took out Herman Rendon.
