Rolando Romero says he is moving up to welterweight and has called for a showdown with unified world champion, Errol Spence Jr.
Romero was beaten for the first time as a professional in May, stopped by Gervonta Davis in six rounds, whilst Spence is reportedly closing in on a long-awaited, highly-anticipated undisputed title clash with WBO champion, Terence Crawford in November, according to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.
‘Rolly’ who has campaigned at 135lbs throughout his 15-fight professional career insists he is planning on moving up two weight divisions and has set his sights on a meeting with ‘The Truth’.
“I want Errol Spence Jr at 147lbs,” Romero told Fight Hype.
“I’m moving up. I’m a big 135 pounder.
I [don’t] give two f**** about 140. It’s a no name a** division.
“I want Spence at 147. I’m going to f*** him up.
“That googly-eyed mother f*****.”
In a cryptic reply, the Long Island man stated on Twitter: “Some stuff don’t need a response.. something wrong with buddy.”
Spence, who added the WBA ‘super’ crown to his WBC and IBF belts with a tenth round TKO over Yordenis Ugas in April has also become a promoter, with his company guiding the career of unbeaten lightweight Frank Martin.

The undefeated 32-year-old called for Romero to return against his charge after Martin stopped common opponent Jackson Marinez earlier this month.
“I definitely think he’s ready for Rolly,” Spence said.
“He’ll definitely beat Rolly and he’s just a better fighter than Rolly overall.
“So that’s a fight I think can definitely happen especially with Rolly coming off a loss.
“He needs a fight to get back in the mix, so why not fight Frank Martin?”
Romero dismissed the possibility of the pair fighting insisting that he wants a star name.
“I have no problem with Frank Martin,” the 26-year-old added.
“I actually like him as a person.
“Me and him are cool. We sparred.
“He’s a great fighter, but honestly I’m a f****** star, I’m going to go fight a f****** star and I want Errol Spence.”
