In the main event of HBO Boxing’s Saturday night telecast, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez of Nicaragua moves up in weight when he challenges titleholder Carlos Cuadras of Mexico in a scheduled 12-round super flyweight title fight.
Saturday’s special edition of HBO World Championship Boxing continues at 10:00 p.m. ET from Inglewood, California. The primetime presentation will also feature a replay of the Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook from earlier in the day.
That bout will be shown live on the east coast at 5pm, taking place from the UK. But then as mentioned will also be shown in the primetime evening telecast along with these bouts.
Golovkin and Gonzalez, two of the sport’s best and most dynamic fighters, along with hardest punchers, and top pound for pounders, have split many a card before. Here, they’re basically doing it once again, although half a world apart.
Official Gonzalez vs. Cuadras Weights from Inglewood:
- Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez: 114.6
- Carlos Cuadras: 114.8
- Yoshihiro Kamegai: 153.4
- Jesus Soto Karass: 154.4
Opening up the telecast is scheduled 10-round super welterweight fight between Jesus Soto Karass and Yoshihiro Kamegai in a rematch of their “Fight of the Year” candidate from earlier this year.
