Sam Eggington vs Przemyslaw Zysk – Results & Post-Fight Report

The Skydome in Coventry hosted championship action, and at the top of a Boxxer promoted card, Sam Eggington took the vacant IBO super welterweight title in a wide points win over the previously undefeated Pole, Przemyslaw Zysk.

Eggington (32-7, KO18) was unbeaten in three going in to this one, his last win a thrilling split decision win over Bilel Jkitou in September last year, while Zysk (18-1, KO6) went ten rounds for the first time in his win over Juan Ruiz in November 2021.

Eggington made unnecessary hard work of his opponent, but the Midlander is rarely in a dull fight, and always finds a way to be engaged in battle. After a massive first two rounds, Eggington settled into a rhythm, and eventually took the win by two scores of 119-109, with a third at 117-111.

Adam Azim (5-0, KO4) wasted little time in claiming the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental super lightweight title, as he stopped Belgium’s Anthony Loffet (8-2, KO2) inside a round. The 19-year-old dropped the visitor with a chopping right hand inside the first thirty seconds, and although Loffet beat the count, he was under heavy fire on the resumption, and his corner there the towel in.

The vacant English middleweight title was won by Tyler Denny (14-2-3, KO0), as he snapped the unbeaten record of River Wilson Bent (12-1-1, KO5) in a split decision victory. The pair met in November last year, where the contest was cut short in a technical draw, but this take Denny prevailed by scores of 97-93 and 96-93, with Wilson Bent’s verdict of 96-94 redundant.

2020 Olympic Bronze medallist Karriss Artingstall (1-0, KO0) won every round of six against Vaida Masiokaite (2-17-5, KO1) at featherweight.

Cori Gibbs (17-0, KO3) remained unbeaten with a 79-73 win after eight rounds at super lightweight against Carlos Perez (17-7-2, KO2), while at middleweight, Aaron McKenna (15-0, KO8) stopped David Benitez (8-7, KO2) in seven.

Kaisee Benjamin (16-1-1, KO6) took a 60-55 win on the cards over six rounds at welterweight against Serge Ambomo (7-31-3, KO3), and Shakiel Thompson (8-0, KO5) took every round of six at middleweight against Bartosz Glowacki (5-9-1, KO4).

Recent Boxxer tournament winner Dylan Cheema (6-0, KO1) took a 39-37 win over Stu Greener (4-9, KO1) over four rounds at lightweight, and Scott Forrest (2-0, KO2) improved his record, stopping Toni Visic (20-33-2, KO5) in the fourth of their cruiserweight six rounder.
