Billy Joe Saunders has given his version of events of the incident that saw him almost come to blows with a member of Chris Eubank Jr’s team.

In a move designed to unsettle Eubank, Saunders was sent by Conor Benn’s team to inspect the Brighton man’s hand wraps before their epic battle this past weekend.

However, the former two-time world champion was refused entry to the changing room by ‘Next Gen’s imposing manager Elliott Amoakoh – also known as ‘Napper.’

Things got very heated between the pair, with Saunders threatening to “splatter” Amoakoh as he was dragged away by security.

BoxNation secured an interview yesterday with ‘BJS’ to get his side of the story, and there’s clearly still plenty of animosity brewing.

“I knew they were never going to let me in the dressing room from word go.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s the king there watching you get your hands wrapped, it doesn’t really change the result.

“It obviously got heated. You’ve got someone standing there like a brick s***house, thinking because he’s got a bit of muscle that he’s going to talk down to somebody.

“Realistically, he’s a beggar. He’s hanging on someone’s tail, trying to get somewhere in life on the back of someone else.

“He’s a bag carrier and that’s all he’s ever been. He’s not a manager or anything like this.

“In my opinion, he’s a nobody trying to get a bit of clout. He’ll be famous on the Wetherspoon doors at the weekend, I suppose.”

The rivalry between Eubank and Saunders dates all the way back to 2014, when the latter edged out an ill-tempered British middleweight title fight.

There have been several attempts to make a rematch in the time since, however none have proved fruitful.

And given the fact Saunders has not boxed since a 2021 stoppage loss to Canelo Alvarez and looks to be well above fighting weight currently, it seems unlikely the beef will ever be settled in the ring.
